Recovery from cardiogenic shock complicating right ventricular myocardial infarction.

چکیده
Introduction Recently the din ical and haemodynamic complica tions of predominant right ventricular infarction have become clear1, 1 . ~ . S_ Although the condition is uncommon it'i importance li~s in the high incidence of cardiogenic shock which in sharp contrast to shock complicating left ventricular infarction, ca rries a good prognosis . A 60 per cen t surviva l has been reported from a sophisticated ca rdia c centre" where full haemodynamic facilities were availahle. The case reported here Hlllslrates the typica l clinkal feature.'i of right ventricular infarction and shows a good result is possible using the facililies found in any military hosp ital.

Augmenting Function for Infarction from Infection: Impella 2.5 for Ischemic Cardiogenic Shock Complicating Sepsis
Cardiac dysfunction is a common complication of sepsis in individuals with preexisting coronary disease and portends a poor prognosis when progressing to ischemic cardiogenic shock. In this setting, maximal medical therapy in isolation is often inadequate to maintain cardiac output for patients who are poor candidates for immediate revascularization. Furthermore, the use of vasopressors and ino...

OBJECTIVES This SHOCK Study report seeks to provide an overview of patients with cardiogenic shock (CS) complicating acute myocardial infarction (MI) and the outcome with various treatments. The outcome of patients undergoing revascularization in the SHOCK Trial Registry and SHOCK Trial are compared. BACKGROUND Cardiogenic shock is the leading cause of death in patients hospitalized for acute M...
متن کاملCardiogenic Shock with Complete Atrio-ventricular Block in an Octogenarian Woman: Are we going too far?
We report a case of an octogenarian woman who suffered from cardiogenic shock following an inferolateral myocardial infarction extending to the right ventricle associated with complete atrioventricular heart block. Her initial status was critical with a poor prognosis. She requested an invasive full management to be able to continue to take care of her ill husband. She was managed with circulat...
متن کاملManagement of cardiogenic shock complicating acute myocardial infarction: The Henry Ford Hospital experience and review of the literature.
Cardiogenic shock complicating acute myocardial infarction (MI) carries a high mortality which in some series prior to 1980 exceeded 80%. Neither the use of inotropic and vasopressor agents nor intraaortic balloon counterpulsation was found to improve survival in this group of patients. Intravenous thrombolytic agents improve survival in patients with acute MI, but their role in cardiogenic sho...
متن کاملCardiogenic shock complicating acute myocardial infarction: expanding the paradigm.
Cardiogenic shock (CS) is the leading cause of death for patients with acute myocardial infarction (MI) who reach the hospital alive. Its incidence has remained constant for 20 years.1,2 Rapidly reestablishing infarct-related artery (IRA) blood flow is essential in the management of patients with shock due to right ventricular or left ventricular (LV) failure. A strategy of early revascularizat...
